NEWSLETTER :  SPRING 2006
Marsh Madness is a quality of life and safety based project designed to
safeguard our homes, our families.

Our annual Marsh Madness cleanup is set for Saturday May 6, 2006.
We will gather again at LaBreque Field at 9:30 AM.
City personnel and equipment will be ready to help us clean up the Neck.

I'm sorry I have not been in touch more often, but trust me, we have been hard
at work in Hough's Neck. Heavy equipment is currently working in Post Island
Marsh. The work is taking place between the Sea Wall and Mallard Rd.
With design and engineering help from State and Federal agencies, we have
sculpted a brand new salt marsh, bordered by a giant sand dune against the
Sea Wall.

The Boy Scouts will help with planting new marsh and dune grass.

Great things are happening here in the Neck, and even greater things are
about to take place!

The U.S Army Corps of Engineers is now working with us on the peninsula!
We will reintroduce a fish hatchery to our neighborhood and provide habitat for
birds not seen here for generations.

Add to all this new salt ponds with wading birds, Osprey Towers,
bird boxes, and great views!

This is the best restoration project in the State!
